K - Kitties

There have been a lot of cats in my life... All the way from my first kitten, Penny, who went psycho when I was 5, to Brigitta.... =) to the cats I now work with at the clinic. Here's just a little bit about the cats that I have known and loved.

=)

First there's Brigitta.

Brigitta came to my family 12 years ago as a free, barnyard kitten from the farm down the street. The house we lived in at the time had a serious infestation of mice, and Brigitta was the best mouser you've ever seen! She easily kept up with my dad's mouse traps, often bringing home multiple mice each week. However, before she was even a year old, her tail was run over by a car, which also broke her pelvis completely in half. With her tail bobbed short, our dear mouser retired for a quieter life indoors.
After 10 years of being the best cat anyone could wish for, in many more ways than most of you could even imagine, she developed cancer and was allowed to pass on in February of this year.
I love my Brigitta.
=)

Violet joined our family 5 years ago when Elizabeth announced she was getting a black cat. Off we went to the shelter, where E picked out the most timid, skittish cat I'd ever seen... she was perfect! Elizabeth brought her home and sat with her all day, coaxing her out of corners and from between the two curtains in the shower. They quickly became best friends, understanding each other in a very passive, non-snuggley way.

Violet loves to have her picture taken and will pose for you whenever you pull out a camera... it's honestly one of the weirdest things I've ever seen. You can't help but love E's sleek, beautiful Violet.

Carly came to us very unexpectedly almost exactly 4 years ago. Upon our return home from church, the oddest screaming sound was coming from the engine of our car. When we opened the hood, there was a tiny kitten perched on the battery of the car. It was cold outside, and she had apparently climbed inside seeking warmth. She was unharmed, although quite disheveled, and barely 4 weeks old. We brought her inside, fed her, bathed her, and called her Carly... since we found her in the car.

She definitely has her crazy days, and is by far the loudest cat we have ever owned, but she loves to snuggle and share anything you're eating with you... we love our baby Carly.

My sophomore year of college there was a tabby cat living in the ally behind my apartment... who decided to have kittens! We named them and loved them, and enjoyed the hours spent out there with them while we procrastinated studying and homework.

Now I have class in a vet clinic and get to play with all different kinds of cats...
and I love every minute of their cute, fluffy, purring-ness!

I love my kitties!

J - "Just Jokes!"

That's what Mike says any time he's kidding.

Not,

"I'm joking"

or,

"Just kidding"

but,

"Just jokes!"

...

I love it!
